Now and then

We had the pleasure of going to see one of our favorite style icons and musicians David Byrne at the Prospect Park bandshell in Brooklyn a few weeks ago and we were amazed at how stylish this man still is. You can't deny it he wears it well! He and Debbie Harry would of made a great couple..

Été D'Amour (Summer of Love)

Respect is Burning parties of the ‘90s played host to acts like Cassius, Dimitri from Paris and, of course, Daft Punk, who helmed Respect’s inaugural night at Queen. Back then, these yet-to-be platinum acts were still unknowns, crafting what was then labeled the “French Touch” or “neu-disco” sound, and propelling Respect to become one of the most successful parties in Parisian history. Now you can catch their Summer of Love series Sundays at the Rivington Hotel in NYC. DJ Set this upcoming Sunday (21st), from DFA Records artists Holy Ghost! We will definitely be there...For more info CLICK HERE.

No Impact Man

For one year, Beavan became “No Impact Man,” attempting to live his normal life, in New York City, without leaving an impact on the environment. No new products. No chemicals. No non-local food. No electricity. He sacrificed his personal comfort, risked his self-esteem, and even jeopardized his relationship with his family, all for this strange test. Screening Thursday, June 11th at The Automotive High School in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. For more info CLICK HERE.

Coachella Trading Cards

While we were cleaning our closet - to make more room for our vintage boot collection mind you - we found these super cute 2002 Coachella Trading Cards . Memories of our first Coachella teased us like our first kiss - Beautiful palm trees, happy smiling people and glorious music permeating the California landscape. Oh to be young and carefree again. Anyhoo, our lack of closet space is your gain! If you are a loyal White Hart reader, shoot us an email and these bad boys yours. However, like mama's kitchen: First come. First serve.

A morning at Newstead Abbey, England

Originally built in 1170 as an Augustinian Priory by King Henry II, Newstead Abbey in Nottinghamshire, England is most famous for its later tenant, the poet Lord Byron, who was said to be 'mad, bad and dangerous to know'! a 19th century playa! Today it's open to the public and is still a beautiful place, even in the snow. It's most famous residents now are the dozen or so ghosts that inhabit the house and gardens!

Deathwatch

Art industry blog How's My Dealing? is making the news and creating a whole lot of controversy with their gallery Deathwatch. Although they aren't always right they've already successfully predicted the closing of Plane Space and Roebling Hall, 2 galleries put on virtual Deathwatch in October. How’s My Dealing? bills itself as a site on which artists can anonymously rate dealers they have worked with and they look for artists to share positive and negative experiences with critics, curators, and galleries. They want to know how you got into the gallery, how or why you left the gallery, about your studio visits, who won't pay or pays only after much cajoling, who loves your work until it doesn't sell, who supports your work despite your weak sales, who won't return work or say where work has disappeared to, who is awesome, who tries to influence your work or presure you to make work you would rather not make, and who abuses power.
