Can I get a witness?

After months of controversy and doubt about his headlining status at Glastonbury last night Jay Z absolutely KILLED it. He opened up his set with a huge grin on his face as he mimed the words to Wonderball by Oasis (Oasis front man Noel Gallagher was quoted saying "I'm not having hip hop at Glastonbury, it's wrong") and a video montage flashing up Noel's words alongside images from Gordon Brown, George Bush, to Boris Johnson and the Queen. Then straight into "99 Problems", a slew of hits, a very amuzing accapella in English slang, and then of course the perfect finale "Encore". His performance was phenomenal and so was his exhibition of humbleness and gratitude as he thanked his whole audience and acknowledged the importance of love and broadmindedness before he walked off the stage.

The Golden Calf

Damien Hirst's latest formaldehyde masterpiece "The Golden Calf" and his announcement to auction off a collection of previously unseen work later this summer are currently causing quite a stir in the contemporary art market. This is the first time a living artist has ever put a collection of brand new work straight out into the open market. The Golden Calf is crowned by a solid gold disc, it's hooves and horns are cast in 18K gold, and is encased in a 24 K gold box which sits on a solid marble base. This is Hirst's largest ever formaldehyde work and is expected to sell for around $24 million. Sotheby's will be conducting the 10 day pre-sale exhibition and 2 day sale sometime in September.

An oldie but a goodie...

Published in 2005, Louis Vutton: The Birth of Modern Luxury was one of the first in depth books about one of the world's most famous luxury brands. It's 616 page compilation of archival art, product designs and sketches, ground breaking advertising, and more. It also examines the lives of the company's first 3 leaders (one of which invented the modern trunk) and the conglomerate's development under their leadership. It's a great book if your into this kind of thing. The book was compiled and written by Paul Gerard Pasols, former director and long time consultant for Louis Vutton.

The Cross Keys

Yesterday, we ended up in a quirky little pub called The Cross Keys in the Chelsea area of London. So glad we had our camera! It's been called the Vivienne Westwood, haute couture of pub design- a true one-off. The pub is 3 stories high and has an amazing conservatory in the back with an open plan kitchen, a glass roof, trees, and lovely rustic furniture. A Chelsea landmark, this pub's original lease dates back to 1765.
